7th Mantra of Kathopanishad.

(सातवाँ मन्त्र)

वैश्वानर: प्रविशत्यतिथिर्ब्राह्मणों गृहान्।
तस्यैतां शान्ति कुर्वन्ति हर वैवस्वतोदकम् ॥७॥

[(यमराज की पत्नी और उसके मंत्री  ने यमराज से कहा) हे सूर्यपुत्र यमराज, ब्राह्मण अतिथि घर में अग्नि की भांति प्रवेश करते हैं।गृहस्थ उनकी जल से शान्ति करते हैं, आप (अतिथि के आदर-सम्मान के लिए) जल ले जाइये।]

Yama was advised by his wife and his minister “The Brahmin guest enters a house like fire. The householder calms him with water. O Yama! Go immediately and bring some water (to perform some respect to the Guest)”.

6th Mantra of Kathopanishada

(छठा मन्त्र)

अनुपश्य यथा पूर्वे प्रतिपश्य तथापरे।
सस्यमिव मर्त्य: पच्यते सस्यमिवाजायते पुन: ॥६॥

अपने पूर्वजों के आचरण का चिन्तन कीजिये, उसके पश्चात अर्थात वर्तमान में किये गए (श्रेष्ठ पुरुषों के आचरण) पर भी दृष्टिपात कीजिये। मरणधर्मा मनुष्य फसल की भांति पकता है (वृद्ध होता और मृत्यु को प्राप्त होता है ) तथा फसल की भांति ही फिर उत्पन्न होता है।

‎Nachiketa said "think of the way those before us acted, look behavior of the persons who are with us in present, also look at the actions of other people. Like a crop man ripens (dies) and like crop springs up (reborn) again".

5th Mantra of Kathopanishada

(पांचवां मन्त्र)

बहूनामेमि प्रथमों बहूनामेमि मध्यम:।

किं स्विद्यमस्य कर्तव्यं यन्मयाद्य करिष्यति ॥५॥

नचिकेता ने सोचा कि मैं बहुत से (शिष्यों एवं पुत्रों में) प्रथम हूं, बहुत से मे द्वितीय हूं। यम का कौन सा ऐसा कार्य है, जिसे पिताजी मेरे द्वारा (मुझे देकर) करेंगे?

Nachiketa thought that among many (sons or pupils) I am the foremost, and among many I am middlemost. What work of Yama (God of Death) is it which my father will fulfill through me?

4th Mantra of Kathopanishada

(चतुर्थ मन्त्र)

स होवाच पितरं तत कस्मै मां दास्यतीति।
द्वितीयं तृतीयं तं होवाच मृत्यवे त्वा ददामीति॥४॥

वह ( नचिकेता) विचारपूर्वक पिता से बोला-हे पिता, आप मुझे किसको देंगे ? दूसरी, तीसरी बार (ऐसा कहने पर) पिता ने उससे कहा - मैं तुझे मृत्यु को देता हूं।

4. Having some thoughts Nachiketa spoke to his father (Vajashrava), “O Father, to whom you will give me?” When he asks this repeatedly, twice and thrice, his father said (in anger), “I will give you to God of Death (Mrityu).”

3rd Mantra of Kathopanishad.

(तृतीय मन्त्र)

पीतोदका जग्धतृणा दुग्धदोहा निरिन्द्रिया:।
अनन्दा नाम ते लोकास्तान् स गच्छति ता ददत् ॥३॥

जो (गौएं) अन्तिम बार जल पी चुकी हैं, जो घास खा चुकी हैं, जिनका दूध दुहा जा चुका है, जिनकी इन्द्रियां शिथिल हो चुकी हैं, उनको (दान में) देनवाला उन लोको को प्राप्त होता है, जो आनन्दरहित हैं।

There are cows, which have already drunk the water, already eaten the grass, whose milk is also driven out, and those whose reproductive power has waned. The person who donates these cows will achieve (after his death) only joyless realms (loka). (Means Nachiketa thought that one should never give this type of donation. Because it is believed in Indian culture that one should donate the thing which one love the most,)
